Sign statement to affirm Freedom of Faith in Islam - “Freedom of faith and religion is meaningless without the freedom to change one’s faith.”
Add your name to those who endorse the Amman statement of 2005. The Amman Message has come to be epitomized in three major juridical and doctrinal points, each crucial to addressing the problems the Islamic world faces today. The great traditional schools of jurisprudence, theology, and spirituality are valid from the point of view of Islam, and the followers of these schools, which include both Sunni and Shi‘i denominations, are all Muslims. Islam has fundamental tenets but is also diverse. It is impermissible to declare any Muslim so defined as an unbeliever/apostate (a practice called takfir). Only those with the proper moral and intellectual qualifications, and the proper methodology, may issue fatwas (religious edicts). Since they were first introduced, these three points have been recognized and ratified universally, through fatwas and official statements, in meetings of the highest and most recognized authorities and scholars in Islamic law, from all denominations and schools of thought all over the world. This is a unique historical event. The statements and signatures from these religious leaders can be see on http://www.ammanmessage.com

Sign the Petition to Ban Cluster Bombs, 2/8 If left on the ground, a slight disturbance may cause bomblets to explode. No international treaties outlaw the use of cluster bombs, although the Geneva Conventions contain laws to protect civilians during conflict.
Write Your Senators About Iraq 2/1
Republican and Democratic senators joined this week in support of a non-binding, sense of the Senate resolution that puts Congress on record as rejecting the president’s planned escalation of the war in Iraq and calling for regional diplomacy and political compromise in Iraq. The Senate is expected to begin debating this new resolution in the next two weeks. The bipartisan resolution was introduced January 31 by Senators John Warner (VA) and Carl Levin (MI). Write a letter today to urge your senators to vote for the Warner-Levin resolution on Iraq.
Take Action Thousands of people in the United States have urged Congress to de-escalate, negotiate, and withdrawal from Iraq. If you have not already asked your two senators to support a resolution against the escalation of the war in Iraq, please write today. Send your message:

Interfaith Call for Reconciliation in Congress, 1/5 Representative Virgil Goode (R-VA) issued an inflammatory statement criticized incoming Representative Keith Ellison, a Muslim, for choosing to use the Qur’an, Islam’s Holy book, at his unofficial swearing-in ceremony as a member of the U.S. House of Representatives. This statement, along with his remarks suggesting that an increase of Muslims in our country constitutes a danger, must be met with voices of people of faith and conscience across our nation and call upon Mr. Goode to apologize for his inflammatory remarks. Please read the statement and add your signature. We will hand-deliver this statement with your signature to Mr. Goode.
Support a Foreign Lobby Registration Act, 12/15 Lobbies working on behalf of foreign governments in our nation’s capital inhibit the formation of foreign policies that are in our own national interest. We urge you to send the following petition supporting a Foreign Lobby Registration Act (FLORA) to your representative and the president. Such an act would make lobbies supporting foreign governments more transparent and accountable to the American people. It would also make clear that those lobbies do not work on behalf of American interests but, in fact, work to support the narrow interests of a foreign government.
Sign Children of Abraham Petition, 12/15 We are a group of alumni of Children of Abraham, an organization that fosters dialogue between young Jews and Muslims from all over the world, along with other individuals who are concerned about the relationship between Muslims and Jews in the Middle East and around the world. We hold that Islam and Judaism share the same father, Abraham, and that there are more similarities than differences between the two religions. We have committed ourselves to work together, in all circumstances, for the cause of Peace and mutual respect between these two great peoples. We are deeply troubled by the present conflicts in the Middle East, the loss of human life and ongoing threats to life that imperil the future of all the peoples in the region, Palestinian, Israeli and Lebanese. We believe in common humanity for all and that each human life is precious. We decry war in the name of Judaism and Islam, two fundamentally peaceful religions. We seek to end the fear of the other religion that exists in our communities.
Consequently we call upon the youths, the world’s next generation, to start working together in order to build the better future for our world through cross-cultural understanding. We seek the resolution of all conflicts in the Middle East and security, peace, justice and dignity for all its peoples.
Sign Petition to Congress to Heed President Carter’s Leadership in Crafting Middle East Policy, 12/15 The new Congress should heed President Jimmy Carter’s leadership in crafting a Middle East policy leading toward a just peace.
Sign Thank You Letter to President Carter, 12/15 Thank you for writing the courageous and inspiring Peace Not Apartheid. We hope that the publication of this book will help expand the debate over how US foreign policy can help bring peace to Israelis and Palestinians. In signing this petition, we are adding our voices to yours.
