Naik, Zakir Abdul Karim

Zakir Abdul Karim Naik (born October 18, 1965) is an international speaker on Islam and comparative religions. Naik is one of the leading Daa’ees (propagators) of Islam.

A medical doctor by training, Naik was born in Mumbai (previously known as Bombay), India. He studied at St Peter’s High School (ICSE) before continuing his education at Kishinchand Chellaram College. Later, he undertook training to become a medical doctor at the Topiwala National Medical College, Nair Hospital.

By 2002 Naik had delivered more than 600 public talks in many countries, in addition to his numerous public talks given in India. He has participated in several symposia and dialogues with prominent personalities of other faiths. His most famous debate was a public dialogue with William Campbell, a Christian missionary from the United States, on the topic of “The Qur’an and the Bible in the Light of Science”, which was held in Chicago, Illinois on April 1, 2000.

Naik appears regularly on many international television channels in over a hundred countries. More than a hundred of his talks, dialogues, debates, and symposia are available on both audio and video media. He has written several books on Islam and comparative religions.

Naik is the founder and president of the Islamic Research Foundation, based in Mumbai. He is also the chairman of the IRF Educational Trust, and the president of Islamic Dimensions.
